See how this social media influencer is living her LASIK life!

Camille Ingels-Fortier, better known by her YouTube handle, Cam Grande Brune, is an influencer, which means it’s her job to keep her finger on the pulse of all that’s trending and share that with her many followers on various social media channels.

On YouTube, Camille produces content about things she likes, such as beauty products, fashion items, and other lifestyle content. She first started making videos in 2011, and today, her audience has multiplied in a big way: her community is made up of roughly 55,000 subscribers.

Camille’s viewers tune in to see her fresh, honest perspective. As an influencer, people count on her for truthful takes: she’s in the habit of telling it like it is. Recently, Camille underwent a laser vision correction procedure. She documented her journey, from pre-operative consultation to post-surgery recovery in a video. Get the story from Camille herself by checking out the video below.

Just a note for English-speakers, the video is in French only. But keep on reading for the full play-by-play below.

A life-changing experience for Camille

After years of fussing with both her glasses and contact lenses to correct her myopia, Camille was ready for change. One day, she decided she had had enough of all the hassles that came with these corrective measures, so she reached out to LASIK MD. It was then that Camille scheduled a pre-operative consultation to find out if LASIK would be right for her. At her consultation, the eye care professionals she met with informed her that, yes, she was indeed candidate. She was thrilled. And ready for the next step.

LASIK surgery: easier than expected

In the days leading up to her surgery, Camille, though nervous, was excited about all the lifestyle benefits that awaited her following her procedure. The little things, she admitted, were a big part of why this decision made sense. “I was excited to no longer have my glasses slide down the bridge of my nose,” says Camille.

On the day of her surgery, Camille put the pre-surgery jitters aside, and instead put her game face on. Overall, she says, the surgery itself was way easier than she expected. “I think that any fears about getting LASIK are mostly in our head,” she said.

What about pain? “I didn’t feel anything!” she says. “It was so quick, too. It’s like sneezing—suddenly it’s over. Sneeze and, oh, I have clear vision!”

The post-procedure hours (and days)

Camille isn’t one to shy away from the truth. The video shows her just minutes after the surgery, still wearing her surgical cap! Moments after, she shares with her viewers that her vision seemed blurry. But was informed by her surgeon that this was an entirely normal part of the process. Things only improved from there. One scene later finds Camille saying that, despite the initial blurriness, she already noticed a drastic improvement to her vision.

Her recovery went smoothly, too: she admitted to feeling a slight irritation, comparing the sensation to cutting onions. But in just a few hours’ time, Camille was back on her feet—aided, in part, by the prescription eye drops she received after her procedure. She was even able to attend alive performance four hours after her surgery (note from LASIK MD: Camille specifies in the video that she wore the special wraparound sunglasses provided by LASIK MD staff, as is required to ensure a speedy, healthy recovery).

Camille says that the days after her procedure were a success, too, sharing that her vision seemed to be even clearer than what it was when she used to wear contacts—a remarkable feeling for anyone to experience. She, like so many other LASIK patients, follow a strict eye drop regime to ensure that her eyes are well-hydrated and healing properly.

“24 hours after my procedure, I looked outside of my window and everything was so clear. Everything. I saw birds clearly, the neighbour’s balcony clearly—it was so unreal,” she says, almost taken aback by the results.

By the time she went back to the LASIK MD clinic for her 24-hour follow-up appointment, Camille’s vision checked in at 20/20.

Embracing her newfound clarity

Camille, at last check, is still amazed by what her LASIK life looks like. Sometimes, she says, she forgets that she ever even had the procedure at all. “Some nights, before bed, it’s as if I think to myself, I have to take out my contact lenses, but then I remember that I don’t wear contact lenses—I just have super clear vision! That’s something that took me a while to get used to.” Camille laughs.

Now, it’s your turn…
